Announcing: Zoom Interest Groups (ZIGS)

What’s ZIG, you ask? Our Zoom Interest Groups will be meeting by Zoom so members and guests can enjoy learning about topics of common interest while getting to know each other and have a good time. Not a bad deal, and it’s free! Each group will determine how often it meets, with meetings lasting 45 minutes. The direction of each group will be shaped by the leader and attendees over time.

         McIntire Genealogy –Jonathan Tucker, our new Clan Historian, will focus on two areas in this group: 1) bringing the most recent “Red Book” (Micum McIntire genealogy) up to date by filling in the gaps from the last 1983 entries in our specific lines to the present, and 2) learning basic (mostly online) genealogical tools and skills to help us to find and fill in any gaps we identify further back in our family lines.  The same tools and skills may be of use to you in doing other family history research, as well. (The Red Book is available in the website gift shop, but purchase is not required for participation.)

         Clan Cooking–Join us for a cup of tea (Brodies of course!) to cook scones and shortbread with Kelly, the new MMCA secretary.  Our first meeting will include recipes for both found in the MMCA cookbook (available on website but purchase is not necessary to participate). Ideas for future cooking will include recipes from the cookbook as well as discovering a bit of Scotland with traditional and modern recipes gleaned from family friends, B&B’s they have visited and some wonderful websites Kelly has found along the way. 

How It Works:

         Each leader has sent an invitational email to you describing their plan for the group with the proposed dates. If you’d like to participate in one or more ZIGs, you just email back the leader (no limit on ZIGs/person!) and you’ll receive the final information and zoom invite directly from the leader. 

         You’ll find the dates and times of the ZIG gatherings posted on the website under Zoom Interest Groups, but you will need to email the ZIG leader to receive the email zoom invite. You can email them at any time. Links to the respective groups are listed below along with contact information.
